Once all the players have their hole cards, there is a round of betting that starts with 2 mandatory bets called blinds made by the two players to the left of the dealer. These bets are placed in the pot because they provide an incentive for players to play the hand.
Once the betting is complete, the dealer puts three cards face up on the board that everyone can use to form a poker hand. Once this is done there will be another round of betting, starting with the player to his left.
