How to Avoid Poker Tilt

2 min read

Poker is a game that requires a lot of skill and strategy in order to win. However, one of the biggest mistakes that poker players make is letting their emotions get the best of them. They let their frustration and anger get the better of them, which leads them to making bad decisions at the table. This is called poker tilt and it’s a major reason why so many players lose their money in the long run.

To avoid this, it’s important to have a solid plan B and C in poker, especially when facing aggressive players. You also need to be able to adapt your poker strategy on the fly in case something unexpected happens. For example, if you notice that the player to your right has figured out how you play you should have a number of ways to unsettle him and keep him off balance.

It’s also good to try to be the last to act on a hand. This gives you the ability to control the price of the pot, which can be helpful if you have a strong value hand. For example, if you have a pair of kings that isn’t particularly great off the deal you can raise when other players check to inflate the pot size and increase your potential winnings.

You should also try to maximise your wins and minimise your losses whenever possible. This means that you should always be playing your strongest hands. If you have a good hand, bet big, and force weaker hands to fold.
